Echun Electronic’s ECSL series of split-core current transformers are now UL certified to meet the UL2808 standard (XOBA) and 2017 National Electrical Safety Code requirements for solar projects.
The ECSL series of split-core current transformers (CTs) are certified by Underwriters Laboratories (UL) to meet the UL2808 & UL61010-1 . The new 2017 NESC code requires that CTs installed in the field must be Listed to UL2808. Until 2015, most of the CTs were with no UL certificated, some CTs used with the sub-meters were with ‘UL Recognized’ certificate instead of ‘UL listed’ certificate.
The UL 2808 CT safety standard was released in 2012 under category code XOBA. The requirements of the UL2808 cover open- type (split-core) current transformers and their associated signal level combiner and/or multiplexer board accessories thereto intended for field installation within distribution and control equipment such as panelboards, swithboards, industrial control equipment, and energy monitoring/management equipment to measure current on a branch circuit. Installation is in accordance with the National Electrical Code, ANSI/NFPA 70.
The ECSL series of split core current transformer are passed the UL2808 and meet the XOBA standard. The ECSL series has three models: the ECSL09, ECSL12 and ECSL24. The rated range is up to 600A. All models deliver exceptional linearity. Developed specially for the sub-meter, automation, energy management, etc. the ECSL24 are also designed to be CAT IV 250V and service entrance.
“Since the requirements of the new NEC, there are more and more clients that are looking to switch from the UL Recognized CTs to the UL Listed CTs. It is the goal for Echun Electronic to offer a full line of the current transformers (CTs) UL listed to XOBA UL2808 by the end of 2018,” said John Gates, director of sales for Echun Electronic Co., Ltd.
